5 Things Every Small Business Owner Must Do This Holiday Season.

October 15th, 2018

Summer is behind us and we are getting closer to that most wonderful time of the year. Is your business ready?

According to the National Retail Federation (NRF) holiday sales in 2018  could hit as much as $720.89 billion. This wonderful season represents 20%-30% of a retailer’s annual sales. The NFR also reports 40% of shoppers begin shopping for holiday gifts prior to Halloween. With so much of your business tied to this one period, you can’t afford to come into the holiday season unprepared. And you don’t have to.

Here are 5 simple tips to get your business ready and make the most out of this year’s holiday shopping period.

1.Offering Customers, a Holiday Gift

Do something for your customers or clients that competitors are not doing. Double their rewards, if your a restaurant offer complimentary drinks for tables that spend over a certain amount. Coffee Shops can provide pastry at no additional charge for all orders over a certain amount rewarding your best customers and clients.

2.Create a Contest

Create a Contest and encourage customers to share their story about your brand or products. This builds credibility and the possibility for your brand to go viral.

3.Advertise on Social Media

Advertise on Instagram or youtube, we all know Google ads is one of the best platforms to promote your business, but social media has become one of the largest platforms to advertise and most cost-efficient. Most companies are still not using these social media platforms to market which allows you to capitalize on where your competitors are not.

4.Offer Gift Ideas

Offer Gift Ideas, and you can create gift ideas based on gender, price or technology. This helps customers discover packages or gifts based on your recommendation. For example, you can create a price idea in your retail or online store. A section for gift $50 and under and another part for gifts under $100; this will also help when shoppers are purchasing with a budget or just browsing, looking for something interesting in your store.

5.Adapt NFC Technology

Make Sure your business is offering NFC fast and convenient checkout. Customers are now paying using their phones and watches more than ever. “In fact In 2018, the number of NFC mobile payment users is projected to reach 166 million. By 2020, the proximity mobile payment transaction value in the United States is estimated to surpass 314 billion U.S. dollars, up from close to 28 billion U.S. dollars in 2016. Many retailers in North America already accept digital payment methods such as Apple Pay, PayPal or MasterCard PayPass.”
