5 Tips Before You Start Your Own Podcast
Have you ever listened to a podcast and thought to yourself “this seems easy, I can do that”? Well, if you haven’t already thought of creating your podcast, maybe it’s about time that you should. Why? Because many successful podcasters earn a six-figure income monthly from their podcasts alone.
Now that your interest has been encouraged, here are 5 tips for you to consider before you start your own podcast.
1.Define a Niche for Your Podcast
This is not only the first step towards creating your own podcast but also the most important one. Defining a niche for yourself will help you in creating solid content for your podcast. Choose a subject that interests you but don’t keep it vague or broad. If you enjoy a specific sport such as baseball, create a podcast based on it instead of talking about all the sports.
2.Choose a Catchy Name
Once you have finalized the niche, you need to come up with a name for your podcast that is catchy and also highlights the niche. Continuing the same example, if you have chosen baseball as your niche, Foul Ball or Pitch Out can be used. These are only name ideas for you to explore and decide on a name that best fits your niche.
3.Finding the Right Equipment
Creating a podcast does not require too much or too expensive equipment. All you need to get started is a computer, audio recording software and a quality mic. If for any reason you can’t arrange these components, then you can also make do with your smartphone and your favorite headset.
4.Plan Out Your First Season
Once you have the basics in place, planning out your season becomes easier. Again, if your podcast is about sports, plan out episodes according to the league.
5. Choose a Platform
Many platforms allow you to publish podcasts on their website for a small subscription fee. However, if you are not willing to invest in your podcast initially, several websites also allow you to publish for free. Choose whatever fits your plan and budget.
